Engaging Boards on Nature Risk

October 28 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

For many sustainability teams, the challenge is no longer identifying that nature matters. It is getting senior leaders and Boards to engage with what nature-related risks actually mean for the business, and what decisions they should make in response.

Nature can be a difficult issue to take to the Board. The science is complex, the risks often sit deep within supply chains, and the financial implications can feel less immediate than more established areas such as climate, cyber or geopolitical risk. As a result, nature can struggle to compete for attention even where the underlying business exposure is significant.

But that is beginning to change. Increasing regulatory expectations, growing scrutiny of supply-chain resilience, and greater evidence of the financial consequences of water scarcity, ecosystem degradation and commodity disruption are bringing nature closer to existing Board conversations about risk, strategy and resilience.

In this webinar, organised in partnership with Natcap, we’ll explore how sustainability teams can engage Boards more effectively on nature-related risk. We’ll be joined by Matthew Westerman, Chairman of Schroders, and Andrew Walton, Chief Sustainability Officer & Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Lloyds, bringing perspectives from both sides of the Boardroom conversation.

Together, we’ll look at what information Boards actually need, what makes a nature-risk discussion resonate with senior decision-makers, how to translate complex nature data into commercially relevant insights, and how to move the conversation from awareness to action.
